Kobe Bryant is one of the most popular and successful basketball players of all time. His father is a retired American basketball player who may have been the inspiration behind Kobe's fondness for the game.

He was born to former NBA player Joe Bryant and Pamela Cox Bryant on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has two older sisters, Shaya and Sharia.

 

He played basketball and football from a young age, and was a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team and the AC Milan soccer team.

 

When he was six years old his family moved to Rieti, Italy. In 1991, his family again moved to Philadelphia and Kobe enrolled in Lower Merion High School; Because of his participation, the school won the state championship fifty-three years later.

In 2009, he married Vanessa Lane and their marriage was crowned with two daughters named Natalia and Gianna. Famous rappers Lil Wayne and Sho Baraka have worked on several songs dubbed after the famous basketball player. He owns a company called “Kobe Bryant Inc” through which he invests in various emerging sports brands. One of the company's first investments was a beverage brand named after him, "BODYARMOR". As for Kobe Bryant's religion, beliefs, and sect of origin, he was born into a Catholic Christian family.



Kobe Bryant Achievements

 

In 1996, he joined the National Basketball Association under the banner of the “Charlotte Hornets” team, before moving on to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. In the 1996-1997 NBA season, Bryant performed well, and set a record for being the youngest player ever to play in the NBA.


In the "All-Star Weekend" held in February 1997, he won the Slam Dunk competition and recorded his name as the youngest player to win this competition. His stellar performance that year also secured him a spot on the NBA's Rookie of the Year Second Team.


In the 1997-1998 season of the NBA, he performed even better than the previous season, and was elected as a junior star in the NBA. He was the youngest player to receive this honor.


Bryant played exceptionally well the following season, establishing himself as a major league player. During that time, he signed a six-year contract with the Lakers.


In 1999, former American basketball player Phil Jackson was appointed as the coach of the Lakers, which helped Bryant to improve his basketball skills significantly. He was named the league's starting pitcher, and played for the All-Star, All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams. This likable player led his team to league glory from 1999-2002.


The following season, 2003, the Lakers were unable to reach the Finals after losing to the San Antonio Spurs.


Kobe was unable to participate in the opening matches of the 2003-04 NBA season, but he led his team when play resumed to the World Cup Finals, but they lost the championship to the Detroit Pistons.


In the same year, Rudi Tomjanovic was appointed as the new coach of the Lakers, but the season that followed was not successful, either for the team or for Bryant. The team lost several playoff games, which hadn't happened in years. Coach Rudy resigned from his post.


The 2005-06 season was a season of renewal and revival for the Lakers. The team returned again under the leadership of coach Phil Jackson, and two of the Lakers players, Kobe and Shaquille, reconciled after reconciling their differences, and the team returned to the playoffs.


In December 2006, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in one game against the Toronto Raptors. In the 2007-08 NBA season, the Lakers reached the Finals but lost to the Boston Celtics.
